Enjoy vegan food with your pup at these Vancouver plant-based faves with dog-friendly outdoor space.
Compared to most Canadian cities, Vancouver is a growing vegan village for those that like to eat out. Our local chefs and culinary creatives have definitely raised the bar in unique, plant-based menus, and what better way to enjoy these dishes than with your pup by your side?
Many of our readers eat vegan, and some even feed their four-legged friends a vegan diet too, so we compiled a list of plant-based restaurants around Vancouver that love when our furry friends join us. Although dogs aren't allowed inside premises where food is being prepared or served, as per B.C. Public Health regulations, many Vancouver businesses take pride in being inclusive of our four-legged friends, and have outside seating areas with space to keep your pup close to you. As fall closes in, we have to grab as much patio time as we can, and these 10 outdoor options for vegan noshing are perfect for your pup to join you.
1. MeeT on Main
Arguably the most popular plant-based spot in town, the list of MeeT on Main’s awards and top Best Of honours are almost as long as their menu. The three Vancouver restaurant veterans who began this concept are helping transition the mainstream public into eating a more plant-based diet.
Dogs are always seen on MeeT’s lively patio, where they are served their own bowl, and join their owners for comfort food in the heart of Main Street.

With Kits beach as its setting, patio life doesn’t get much better than this. The fact that everything at The Cider House is sustainable and plant-based is a win, but having the patio embrace dogs is a homerun.
This is also the place to hit up happy hour and sample house ciders while your dog laps up his water beside you. Careful though, maybe cut him off after two bowls if he’s walking home.

The ambiance of such restaurants plays a huge role, and small details like wooden menu covers really add a natural, sustainable touch that fits perfectly with the plant-based theme. Not only does it align with the eco-friendly vibe, but it also makes the overall dining experience more pleasant and unique. I think more places should embrace these kinds of thoughtful designs, enhancing the experience for customers and making them feel more connected to the restaurant's values.
